Ah, Switzerland. If you forced me to pick my favorite place on earth, Switzerland would probably be it. It has the most spectacular mountains, lakes, architecture, everything. I just love it.
With that in mind, I wanted to use this photo to kick off my new weekly “Photo Friday” series, where I will be highlighting my favorite photos from our adventures around the world.
Interlaken, which means “between lakes,” is a perfect little Swiss town situated between two lovely blue lakes, Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. It’s known as one of the adventure capitals of the world, and even though I’m not quite the extreme sports type, it has plenty of activities for everyone.
If you’re planning a trip to Interlaken, try taking a train ride into town for some unbelievable views of the Swiss countryside.
The special thing about this photo is that is was taken just minutes before David and I got engaged in May 2013. He proposed on Harder Kulm, a small mountain on the edge of the city, where you can take a funicular, a small tram that climbs the side of a mountain, to the top where — if the fog isn’t too bad — there is a breath taking view of the city (pictured above), a nice restaurant, a little playground, and hiking trails.
